Frequently asked questions
What should I wear in the class?
You should wear something loose like tracksuit trousers and a T-shirt. Classes are normally bare foot. Avoid using hard shoes, trainers or socks (unless with sole grip), but soft dancing shoes are welcome as well. Avoid long or tight dresses, long skirts, watches and big jewels.
I can't dance!
No problem: anyone who can move can participate. The exercises are based on simple movements, some more energetic, some gentler. Their are no steps to follow and the class is non-competitive. If you have a specific disability, injury or illness, phone or inform me before the class and I can advise. My suggestion is: 'do what you can and don't do what you can't'.
What is Biodanza Vital Development similar to?
The closest parallels are: some of the five rhythms dances; and the creative movement and expression workshops that are commonly available to students enrolled in professional acting or dance schools. There are also some similarities with contact improvisation. But generally speaking: Biodanza Vital Development IS UNIQUE!
Will I have to talk?
I have a brief introductory talk at the beginning of each class. During the class I recommend not talking, as my aim is to do all the talking 'through our bodies'.
Am I too old?
The workshops are open to all kinds of people from 18 to 100 years old! If you suffer from any kind of medical condition, please ask your doctor if this class is suitable for you; and please inform me before the class if you have a particular or serious medical condition.
Can I arrive late or leave the classes early?
I suggest arriving in time and doing all the exercises from the very beginning, as this will help you warm up your muscles in a progressive way with the rest of the group. Because the class is a total experience from the beginning to the end, I suggest that participants do not arrive late or leave early, unless it is absolutely necessary to do so. If you need to leave the class for any reason, please do so quietly, respecting the atmosphere of the class. I also recommend not leaving the class for a long while.
